A widget is a small interactive card that appears inside the chat, in place of a block of text. unicorn has six. Each one shows the same information your agent would otherwise write out, and adds buttons for the obvious next step.

The six widgets

A button that says “Discuss this” or “Break this down” does not run anything by itself. It sends a message to your agent, as if you had typed it, and your agent then replies.

Where they appear

The text fallback

Every tool result also comes as plain text, and the text has the full content. A client that cannot show a widget shows the text, so nothing is missing. Buttons that need your agent, such as Discuss this, are hidden in a client that cannot send messages from a widget.

What widgets can and cannot do

  • They change unicorn’s own state only: marking a brief read, or saving a plan when you tick an item.
  • They never write to Ed, Moodle, Canvas or Gmail.
  • They load nothing from the internet. Everything a widget shows came from your unicorn.

When a widget does not show

Ask your agent for the same thing in words, for example “show my unread briefs”, and check that the client is one from the table above. If the plain text shows instead of a card, the client does not support widgets. That is expected and not a fault in unicorn.
