These are real prompts, in plain language, and what the assistant does with them. Building an integration and need the exact arguments and result shapes? See Developers.

What’s due this fortnight

1

You ask

“What’s due for me in the next two weeks?”
2

What happens

The assistant calls due, which already covers a two-week window, so it doesn’t need anything else from you.
3

The assistant says

A short list of what’s due, ordered by date, naming the unit and the days remaining for each — and says plainly if nothing is due.

Open a unit section

1

You ask

“Show me what’s in UNIT this week — section 5.”
2

What happens

The assistant calls unit with the unit and section you named.
3

The assistant says

The section’s activities and files, grouped in the order Moodle shows them, flagging anything with an upcoming due date.

Find and fetch slides

1

You ask

“Find the week 3 lecture slides in UNIT and show me what’s on them.”
2

What happens

The assistant searches with find, then opens the matching file with file. A PDF or text file comes back as content the assistant can read directly; an image comes back as a picture it can show you, not a link you have to open yourself.
3

The assistant says

Confirms which file it opened and summarizes or describes its content, rather than only linking to it.

Read grades

1

You ask

“What are my grades in UNIT?”
2

What happens

The assistant calls grades for the unit you named.
3

The assistant says

Each graded item with its mark, and separately notes anything still ungraded — offering to look up an ungraded item with item if you want its status.

Search a forum, then read the thread

1

You ask

“Has anyone asked about a TASK extension on the UNIT forum?”
2

What happens

The assistant searches with search_forums, then opens the matching discussion with thread.
3

The assistant says

Whether the question was already asked and answered, with a short summary of the thread and a link to it.

Ed Discussion: latest threads, then read one

1

You ask

“What are the newest unanswered threads in UNIT on Ed? Summarize the most recent one.”
2

What happens

The assistant lists the newest unanswered threads with list_threads, then reads the top one with read_thread, which comes back as plain text ready to summarize.
3

The assistant says

The list of unanswered threads by title and age, then a plain-language summary of the newest one’s question and any replies so far.

Mark lessons read (ask first)

1

You ask

“Mark the week 4 lessons as read for me on Ed, UNIT.”
2

The assistant asks first

mark_lessons_read changes your progress on Ed and can’t be scoped to a preview — the assistant states exactly what it’s about to mark (“every lesson in UNIT whose title or module matches ‘week 4’”) and waits for you to confirm before calling it, the same way it would before any other write.
3

What happens

Once you confirm, the assistant calls mark_lessons_read and reports back which lessons it matched and whether each one succeeded.
4

The assistant says

How many lessons it marked and whether any failed, by title.

Submit an assignment: dry run, then real

submit only exists on the local server (moodle mcp serve), because it uploads files from the machine the server runs on. See Security.
1

You ask

“Submit report.pdf to TASK in UNIT.”
2

What happens (plan only)

The assistant calls submit, which plans the submission without uploading anything yet. It gets back which assignment, which files, and whether a submission statement is required.
3

The assistant shows the plan and asks first

States exactly what will upload and whether it’s a draft or final submission, and waits for you to say go ahead — marking it final submits for grading and can’t be undone.
4

What happens (real upload)

Once you say go ahead, the assistant calls submit again with the upload turned on and gets back Moodle’s own confirmation, including the submission time.
5

The assistant says

Confirms the submission went through and repeats back what Moodle confirms, including the submission time.
