This page lists what each platform’s web UI offers, split into what its CLI covers, partially covers, and doesn’t cover at all — use it to decide whether a task still needs a browser.
Coverage below is as of the versions this site documents: moodle-cli 0.9.2, edstem-cli 0.7.0, ontrack 0.3.2. A platform’s web UI moves independently of these CLIs; recheck this page against a new release before relying on a gap being closed.

Moodle

  • Enrolled units, with section browsing — units, activities
  • Deadlines and the calendar’s actionable timeline — due, todo
  • Grades and feedback — grades
  • Announcements (forum-type posts) — news
  • Forum discussion reading and search — threads, forums
  • Resource, folder and assignment file download — download, get
  • Assignment file submission, draft or final — submit
  • Notification and unread message counts — alerts
  • Opening a unit or activity in the browser from a reference — open
Write side: only submit changes anything on Moodle. Everything else in this CLI is read-only.

Ed Discussion

  • Enrolled units — units
  • Thread listing, search, and reading — threads
  • Posting a new thread or a reply — threads send, replies send
  • Lesson content, including slides — lessons, slides show, slides read
  • Quiz slide answers — slides submit
  • Marking lessons and slides read — lessons mark-read
  • Ed-hosted file listing and download, from lessons or threads — files
  • Your own recent activity — activity
Write side: threads send, replies send, lessons mark-read, slides submit. Posting is additionally gated behind EDSTEM_ALLOW_POSTING/MCP_ALLOW_POSTING on the MCP (Model Context Protocol) surfaces — see Mutations.

OnTrack

  • Enrolled units — units
  • Tasks, their status and due dates — tasks list
  • A task sheet, converted to Markdown from its source PDF — tasks read
  • Task and whole-unit resource downloads — tasks get, units get
  • Task workflow state (self-reported: not started, working on it, need help) — tasks set
  • Task file submission — tasks submit
  • Task chat history and sending a message — chats read, chats send
  • Teaching roles you hold — roles
Write side: tasks set, tasks submit, chats send, chats mark-read, and chats read as a side effect of fetching history — see Mutations for why reading chat history counts as a write here.
